Lots of wonderful things are happening in the book world for me this week. Sometime this week, I’ll get a chance to see the cover for the sequel and the print book will be finalized for publishing (the ebook is all ready to go once the cover’s done!) and all print review books were sent out for The Kings of Charleston blog tour.

Everyone has had vivid dreams from time to time that they remember when they wake up, and sometimes even think about throughout the day. Last night, I had one of those dreams and it was the most random kind of dreams too. It wasn’t the usual mix of things happening in my real life or anything you could analyze with the help of a dream book. It had nothing to do with what’s going on in my life, and it wasn’t even myself that I was dreaming of. It was some totally random girl….
This dream bugged me so much that I eventually had to write it down and it soon started to take shape like a chapter of a novel. That’s when it hit me…this could be my next book (after The King’s series). Which is great, because it means I know my next adventure, but there’s a problem. This new story took over all my thoughts today and this afternoon I couldn’t focus on working on my current series.
The way the whole writing process works for me is that a story just takes over my thoughts and I have to write about it and up until today my imagination had been squarely focused on Casper and Cal. So I tried to get all the details I had in my brain out and onto the page on this new story so that I could return my focus to the present story. It hasn’t worked…yet.
Looking on the bright side? I know I have a new story I’m totally passionate about, which is always a good feeling. I’m always afraid I’ll finish The King’s of Charleston series and there will be no more stories, but happily I know I have another story waiting on me…now if it will just stay in the recesses of my mind until I’m ready to completely focus on it.
No worries though, The Kingdom’s Revolt will get written. You just may not have to wait very long for a totally new book from me 🙂
Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! Thought I would post a recipe for Red Velvet Cupcakes that I’m going to make this evening. Enjoy!
I’ve had several people ask me about Kythera and whether groups like it really exist in the world. My answer: yes and no. I can’t give a clear cut answer, because do I have definitive proof? No. But are there signs of groups like this? Yes.
You don’t have to look very far for evidence of “Kythera” like groups exist all around us (Mafia, Illuminati, Skull and Bones…I could keep going), but like the secretive Kythera, hard evidence is almost impossible to find. And even if the evidence is found, pinning down members and what they really do is still elusive.
Readers questions whether or not a group like Kythera could have that much power. Power that seems to put them out of reach of all laws and government. Surely, I made it up. Kythera is indeed made up, but it doesn’t take much to realize it might not be far from the truth…
As I explained a few entries ago, I took a break from writing and I felt lost. But I tried to make myself stick to it (I only cheated a little bit). You may wonder why I even took the break when I wanted to write, but I’ve learned from experience that for me I need a some time to regroup and really think about what I want to see happen in the next book before I commit to it on the computer screen.
This break without a doubt was hard, but worth it. Maybe I didn’t need it as much this time around to clear my head, but it showed me something else…how much I love writing and how much I need it in my life. If I had just kept trucking through January writing the third book, I wouldn’t have ever known that and probably would have ended up burned out a lot quicker and reluctant to start the process all over again. Now I’m raring to go and excited to start on the next (and final) chapter of Casper’s story.
So here’s to another beginning and what will hopefully be a great month! Already been working with the cover artist, so in a couple weeks I’ll be ready to reveal it! So excited! Happy February!

Check out the amazing outfits Pink Julep created for me with one of my dresses. I wanted to wear the dress for several occasions, but had no idea how to make it a whole new look each time. She’s my go-to fashion guru when I need a great put together look!
